Paris Airshow Confirmation

Written by Katie Davis, posted in JOC News on February 25, 2015

For all those who have your space booked to exhibit at the Paris Airshow you should have now received your official confirmation of stand location.

Now the fun begins!

Jon Oliver Communications (JOC) has been helping clients’ exhibit at various shows for many years.  It just so happens that the Paris Airshow is one of our favourites – we’ve done it enough times!

We help clients plan their show presence right from selecting their stand location to planning graphics, videos, press releases to promote their presence at the show and everything in between (even the coffee machine and staplers!).  In fact, all the clients need to do is turn up on the opening day, suited and booted.

A lot of people we talk to have a misconception that a service like this is going to be expensive.  It can often be a lot more affordable than you initially think.  If we have several clients at one show we can share logistic and resources such as stand builders, electricians and painters.  Quite often JOC will have a dedicated Account Manager on site throughout the duration of the show to help with anything from ‘the light bulb has gone’ to ‘someone from the press wants an interview – what should I do or say?’

If you need any help, please just give us a call – we won’t charge for a chat! We’ll even throw in a cuppa if you’re in the area.

All indicators currently point to the Government’s R&D (Research and Development) Tax Claim initiative being successful in focusing UK Manufacturing on innovation.  Acknowledging this in his Autumn Statement the Chancellor of the Exchequer stated that from 1st April 2015,  the rate that can be claimed by SMEs against qualifying R&D expenditure will increase from 225% to 230%.

In addition the Government will launch a consultation in January 2015 on the issues faced by smaller businesses when claiming R&D tax credits.  The government will introduce an advanced assurance scheme for small businesses making their first claim and develop new guidance for R&D tax credits.

Written by Katie Davis, posted in Client News on November 28, 2014

With December upon us and March just round the corner this is a good time for many SME manufacturers, approaching their end of year, to review the positive changes made in the March 2014 Budget regarding loss making SMEs’ R&D expenditure.

In this year’s budget the Chancellor of the Exchequer made further changes to the R&D Tax Credit scheme to further encourage innovative SMEs to invest in R&D even if it results in short term losses.  The changes relate specifically to the rate of surrender of R&D losses for Tax Credit purposes which has been raised from 11% to 14.5% for expenditure from 1st April 2014.
