PR pick and mix – Scaleable PR for SMEs

Jon Oliver Communications (JOC) has introduced a scaleable PR pogramme that allows its clients to pick-and-mix from a range of proven communications activities.  Business Communications Builder (BCB) provides a completely transparent programme set against a clearly defined bespoke plan.

“BCB addresses the negative sides of conventional retained PR,” explained David Wickham, JOC’s Managing Director, “Clients want value for money and if a fee allows for ten press releases over a year then the client wants ten releases – regardless of if they’re needed or not.  From the agency viewpoint, account managers often spend more time focusing on producing what’s been contracted rather than what’s actually needed; generally this approach is  a waste of time, money and doesn’t deliver.

Robot welder has 10kW power source on tap

A robot fibre-laser weld cell using what is believed to be the UK’s largest commercially operated power source, 10kW, has been installed at Graham Engineering Limited (GEL) in Nelson, Lancashire. The System has been integrated by Cyber-Weld Limited using a FANUC six axes robot at its heart. The fibre laser weld cell has increased production capacity and provided important additional capabilities. Read full article

Robots take the load for cooperage

Automation technology is proving it can mix effectively and unobtrusively with the heritage craft of barrel manufacturing at Speyside Cooperage in Alloa.  Two Kawasaki robots and a purpose designed lathe are being used in the refurbishment process of traditionally built oak barrels. FANUC UK has announced the latest evolution of its ROBODRILL vertical machining centre range focusing on features that reduce cycle times and improve surface finish and accuracy.  The ROBODRILL α-DiA series now offers standard and high power spindle versions, improved chip discharging, thermal displacement compensation and higher resolution axis feed.
